Christmas Valley

The picturesque Christmas Valley neighborhood is aptly named for its appearance similar to a Christmas Village when viewing the area from Echo Summit in the winter. Located south of Meyers where Hwy 50 meets Hwy 89. This neighborhood truly embraces the mountain lifestyle with its peacefulness and picturesque mountain views, tall pine trees, open meadows and the Upper Truckee River running through it. It is a popular place for fly fishing. This area is an adventurers dream with its numerous hiking and biking trails, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, golf, bouldering, rafting, and back country skiing. The neighborhood is considered the gateway to Luther Pass, Hope Valley, Blue Lakes and Kirkwood and Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort. There are also some fantastic mountain biking trails in the area. The Christmas Valley trail is a single track with some rocky sections. It can be accessed from the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT), which you can pick up on 89 at the Big Meadow Campground, or ride this as an out and back from South Upper Truckee Road. The TRT starts tough, but is probably a more pleasant climb overall. The area includes a variety of family-style homes, forest service cabins, and larger mountain homes. If you love a good Tahoe winter, this neighborhood tends to get a lot of snow. Sit back with a warm beverage and watch the snow fall from the comforts of your home. Seclusion and mountain serenity abound.
